My name is Peter Grassberger, I currently live and work in Graz, Austria. I'm interested in technology and (net-)politics and how it shapes our way of thinking. I work as a Web Developer and am an active member of the Pirate Party of Austria.

I was born in Vienna in 1990, and grew up in Epe, Netherlands and Klagenfurt, Austria. I graduated from high school in 2009 and fulfilled my civilian service at the Austrian Red Cross. From 2009 to 2012 I studied Mediatechnology and Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree. Since my internship in 2012 I've been working at websafari GmbH & Co KG on some really challenging web projects, they are now based in Vienna.

I've been a member of the Pirate Party since it was created back in 2006 following the Pirate Bay raid, but after the success of the Berlin state election in 2011 I started to be more active. Since 2013 I'm on the executive board of the Pirate Party of Austria and I was a candidate for the Carinthian state election in 2013, the Austrian Students' Association election 2013, the general election 2013 and the European election 2014.

Part-time employed Web Development

10/2012 – 07/2014 websafari GmbH & Co KG

I started out learning how to create Typo3 based websites at websafari, but soon I got more into developing custom made webapps with backbone.js and API backend. The company has gone through a lot of transitions in little time, the team became more international with English as working language, it also adopted Scrum and a git based workflow. I have been working on the panorama webapp Circum first for websafari then for Erfindler GmbH. Circum is an html/javascript panorama viewer for the Browser but it is more like a new kind of website that allows for a more emerging experience.

Study Mediatechnology and Design

09/2009 – 09/2012 University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Campus Hagenberg

In my study I focused on Game & Web Development as you can tell from the projects The Legend of Ethos and rausch::abstand. In Hagenberg I did not only learn to code in Java and C++ but I also got to know the whole media creation pipeline for all kinds of projects. My Bachelor's thesis was about the creation of an artificial intelligence for an Asteroids game.
